Author Biography
Returning to college at 25, I felt like I had to play catch up. So after wandering around college unsure of a major, I began to enjoy the classes, in fact they became easy. Before I knew it, I was a triple major (Business, Medical, and Mathematics) taking 40 units, full time at two universities.
I had even taken the role of Student Body President at Copper Mountain College. After many incidents with administration, I had become fed up and hoped that after being elected VP of Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus that I would have left those problems behind me.
After receiving a provocative offer in real estate, I dropped out of school to enter the workforce. Although I was out of school, I never stopped learning. Through sales I learned the art of communication and released my fear of public speaking. And through mortgages I understood “the game” that is played in every commercial application in the world.
Tragedy strikes as I am diagnosed with a pituitary tumor. First operation in 2004, gave me appreciation of life. Never to have regrets or live life wondering.
Second operation took 75% of my vision and most of my pituitary function and left me hating life. I turned bitter and resentful, no one understood. I lost hope and nothing was working, so I stopped taking my medication.
Here I am, days before my third surgery. Scared to death that I will go blind with a 50/50 chance out of surgery, running out of money because my insurance doesn’t cover enough, and the very real possibility that I will die.
I fear blindness over death, I have read a few articles on optic nerve regeneration, but I doubt it will be available for me within my lifetime.
All I want is to build my dream house and live a normal uneventful life. My wife and I have told our story many times and it was suggested to me that I should make a “donate” button. I hate the idea of donations, but I am running out of options. I would rather work, but if I lose my vision I do not know what I will do for a profession. In the mean time, I am still a mortgage professional if you require assistance.
